A dazzling Emily Blunt has the white stuff at the Hollywood premiere of Gnomeo and Juliet

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

The white stuff: Emily Blunt looked stunning on the blue carpet at today's Hollywood premiere of her new animated film Gnomeo and Juliet

As she strolled down the blue carpet at the Hollywood premiere of her latest film on Sunday afternoon, Emily Blunt proved that less is not necessarily more.

Looking demure in a stunning white knee length dress with conservative long sleeves, the 27-year-old British actress showed that you don't need to show acres of flesh to look dazzling.

Emily provides the voice of garden gnome Juliet in Gnomeo and Juliet, the animated love story with a twist.

Meeting the fans: The actress cheerily signs autographs for the waiting fans outside movie theatre El Capitan

The actress, who is married to American actor John Krasinski, seemed to be enjoying herself as she arrived at the El Capital Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, at one point taking time to chat to fans and sign autographs.

But she wasn't the only fashionable star in attendance.

Gavin Rossdale and his young sons, Zuma, two, and four-year-old Kingston, all looked equally trendy in matching aviator sunglasses with red frames.

Kingston has his hair in an avant garde style with a pair of tartan and khaki patterned trousers that looked like they could have come straight out of his mother Gwen Stefani's wardrobe.

They were joined by British stars James McAvoy, who voices the part of Gnomeo, and Patrick Stewart who plays William Shakespeare in the film.

The film follows the forbidden love of two garden gnome and also stars Julie Walters, Ozzy Osbourne, and Matt Lucas, who also appeared at this afternoon's event.

Gnomeo features songs by Elton John, who also serves as a producer on the movie along with his civil partner David Furnish.

Lending a voice: The film's stars Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy both arrived looking smart and casual at today's Hollywood premiere

Elton and David both arrived at the premiere wearing wacky glasses with a gnome theme.

The film features a much-buzzed about duet between Elton and Lady Gaga.

The mainly British cast looked happy as they gathered together for a cast photo, with many of the male stars going for a casual look wearing shirts and blazers with jeans.

Gnomeo & Juliet will be released in the U.S. on February 11.

Is it just lucky genes? Slim and toned Cameron Diaz confesses: 'I eat a lot...but I also exercise!'

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Work it! Cameron strikes a sexy pose in front of the poster for the film

At the age of 38 Cameron Diaz is still easily seeing off the younger competition.

With her incredibly toned and slim figure, the stunning actress revealed her slimming secrets last night on Jimmy Kimmel's talk show.

Looking tanned and gorgeous in a black minidress with a draped neckline, her tousled hair loose around her shoulders, Cameron told the bemused host: 'I eat a lot Jimmy, but I also exercise.'

Then the actress teasingly asked her host: 'Wait a minute, do you want me to write that down?'

Like the rest of us, Jimmy seemed doubtful that Cameron's model figure was the result of a large appetite.

'I find that hard to believe', he told her, pointing at his own somewhat rotund body. 'Because I eat a lot and this is what happens.'

Talking about her exercise routine, she jokingly compared her love for playing golf to 'crack cocaine.'

When Jimmy learned that she had not yet met notorious golf star Tiger Woods, he said: 'Good - be very careful.'

Lady in red: Cameron Diaz looked lean and toned in her asymmetrical Azzaro dress as she attended the premiere of the Green Hornet in Hollywood last night

Cameron, still tanned from her New Year's holiday to Mexico with baseball star boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, also attended the premiere of new movie The Green Hornet last night.

She posed for the cameras as she walked into Grauman's Chinese theatre and showed off a very trim figure which looked toned and lean in her fitted red Azzaro dress.

She demanded the flashbulbs' attention in the asymmetrical dress and nude Casadei shoes as she joined her co-stars for the screening.

The Green Hornet is a superhero film, based on the fictional character created by American writer Fran Striker for radio in the 1930s.

Weighty subject: Cameron Diaz told talkshow host Jimmy Kimmel about her huge appetite last night

Written by and starring Seth Rogen, the Knocked Up star plays Britt Reid, the son of wealthy newspaper publisher James Reid - played by Tom Wilkinson - who inherits his father's media empire when he dies.

He teams up with his father's assistant Kato, played by Jay Chou, to become a masked crime fighting team.

With some extra help from new secretary Lenore Case, played by Cameron, he battles Russian criminal Benjamin Chudnofsky, played by Christoph Waltz, who controls the city's criminal underworld.

Star of the show: Seth Rogen, who wrote the screenplay and plays the Green Hornet, poses with co-star Diaz and his fiancée Lauren Miller

And most of the cast were in attendance last night, including Taiwan-born Chou, 31, and Edward Furlong, 33, who is better known for his role as John Connor in Terminator 2.

Then 14, he is now 33 and looked all grown up as he smiled for the cameras at the premiere of the film, in which he plays Tupper, one of Chudnofsky's minions.

The film is released on Friday in the US and UK and is available in 3D after having its release date pushed back from the original date of July 9 last year.

And Rogen said he found the action scenes quite tough to film.

He said: 'We tried to use as few visual effects as possible. So there's a lot of cars crashing through buildings and explosions and stuff, and I just had to try to not look as terrified as I was for the most part.

'In the action scenes, what you have to be most conscious of is not getting blown up or run over by a car. It can be dangerous.'

Time stands still for Demi Moore as evergreen actress joins husband Ashton Kutcher at premiere

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Showing her support: Demi came along with husband Ashton Kutcher who co-stars with Portman in the film

She's repeatedly denied cosmetic surgery is behind her youthful looks.

But as she joined her husband Ashton Kutcher at his latest film premiere last night, it appeared Demi Moore was ageing backwards.

Compared to a photo taken of the actress 14 years ago, the 48-year-old actress looked like she had barely aged a day.

The Indecent Proposal actress showed off her incredible figure in a little black ruched dress covered in on-trend zips, which she teamed with black pumps and Cartier jewellery.

Moore attended the Hollywood premiere of No Strings Attached to support the film's leading man, her husband of six years, Kutcher.

Even though it wasn't her film, it looked like plenty of fans had turned up to meet her with crowds outside the Regency Village Theatre carrying photos of Demi for her to sign.

Compared to a photo taken of Moore at the 1997 premiere of her film G.I. Jane, the movie star looked virtually identical.

Ageless: Demi looked remarkably line free last night - apparently not have aged since she attended her G.I. Jane premiere in 1997 (right)

At the time, she was 34, just two years older than her current husband Kutcher.

But despite widespread reports she has spent up to £200,000 on remodelling her face and body, the mother-of-three insists she's all natural.

She said in 2009: 'It's completely false - I've never had it done. But I would never judge those who have.

'If it's the best thing for them, then I don't see a problem.'

Blooming: Pregnant Natalie Portman, who stars in the movie, wowed in a floor-length black and beige halterneck Vena Cava dress

Also on the red carpet last night was Kutcher's on-screen leading lady Natalie Portman.

The pregnant actress showed just a tiny hint of her baby bump under a flowing black and beige Vena Cava dress.

The trio were joined by other cast members, as well as Demi's daughter Rumer Willis, for the Hollywood premiere of the movie last night at the Regency Village Theater.

The new film will see the pair play two people who agree to have a purely sexual relationship but soon develop feelings for each other.

Looking incredible: Demi Moore at the premiere of No String Attached in Hollywood last night, putting in an age-defying display in a short LBD

Long and the short of it: Natalie revealed that Kutcher joked about their height difference when they shot the movie

The 5ft 4in actress revealed that she bonded with 6ft 3in Kutcher over jokes about her height.

The Israeli-born actress admitted that her average height brought them hours of entertainment.

Portman explained to Access Hollywood: 'He's a lot taller than me. We definitely got a lot of enjoyment out of that, well, he probably got more because he gets to be the tall one... I get to be the gnome!

'There were a lot of short people jokes.'

Tender: Moore shares a moment of intimacy with Kutcher on the red carpet

Meanwhile the pregnant actress revealed that she has no concerns about piling on the pounds after getting super slim for her film Black Swan.

She told U.S. TV show Extra: 'I told [director] Darren [Aronofsky], I was like, "First you got me skinny, and now you're getting my fat,' because he introduced me to my fiancé."

'It's the greatest gift he ever gave me.'

Portman is expecting her first child with her choreographer fiancé Benjamin Millepied.

• No Strings Attached opens in cinemas on January 21 in the U.S. and February 25 in the UK.

Smokin'! Red hot Cameron Diaz shows off a very toned and trim figure at the Green Hornet premiere in Los Angeles

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Lady in red: Cameron Diaz looked lean and toned in her asymmetrical Azzaro dress as she attended the premiere of the Green Hornet in Hollywood last night

Helping to fight bad guys and rid the world of crime clearly appears to have done wonders for Cameron Diaz.

The actress looked in the best shape of her life as she arrived at the premiere of her latest film in Hollywood last night.

She posed for the cameras as she walked into Grauman's Chinese theatre and showed off a very trim figure which looked toned and lean in her fitted red Azzaro dress.

Diaz, who looked tanned from her New Year's holiday to Mexico with baseball star boyfriend Alex Rodriguez, has always boasted a slimline figure since she shot to fame in The Mask in 1994 aged 21.

But Diaz, 38, looked like she could still pass for a woman in her twenties with her stunning figure giving any younger counterpart a run for their money.

She demanded the flashbulbs' attention in her asymmetrical Azzaro dress and nude Casadei shoes as she joined her co-stars for the screening.

Feeling chilly? Harrison Ford's garish scarf fails to distract from Rachel McAdams' barely-there dress at Morning Glory premiere

By JODY THOMPSON

Chilly: Harrison Ford wore a bright turquoise scarf tied in a rather odd fashion and a check suit at the UK premiere of Morning Glory - but all eyes were on Rachel McAdams

He's famed for his rakish hat as Indiana Jones - but Harrison Ford looked like he was trying a bit too hard to be fashionable at the premiere of his latest movie in London tonight.

The 68-year-old Hollywood mega star appeared to be trying to ape Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini's Italian ways with a neckerchief with the strange way he's tied his lurid turquoise scarf - but he didn't quite manage to pull off the look.

To be fair to the ageing heart-throb however, it didn't really matter what he wore, as most eyes were on his 32-year-old co-star Rachel Adams, who's attire was exceptionally skimpy for a winter red carpet bash in Leicester Square.

Her skimpy print dress barely covered her assets but was luckily kept firmly in place with toupé tape on a rather windy evening in London.

The pair were braving a rather blustery night in the capital to launch their new movie Morning Glory in the UK.

At least this time, Harrison didn't make the mistake of treading on his co-star's dress as he did at the film's premiere in Berlin on Monday - it's unlikely the flimsy frock would have stayed on.

Film fans: Gillian McKeith and daughter Skylar and rapper Aggro Santos have swapped the jungle of I'm A Celebrity for red carpet events in London

And he soon removed his turquoise neck warmer as soon as he'd escaped the wintry weather and got inside the Empire cinema.

Apart from Harrison and Rachel however, there were few A-listers to seen in Leicester Square.

Scrubbed up nicely: Dancing On Ice star Kerry Katona injected some glamour into the proceedings, along with Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs

Sharp dressers: Peter Andre and Chantelle Houghton favoured black jacket attire

Other stars on the red carpet last night included Peter Andre - without girlfriend Elen Rivas - Kerry Katona looking stunning in a little black dress, Trinny Woodall, I'm A Celebrity stars Aggro Santos, Alison Hammond and Gillian McKeith, and The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs.

Morning Glory tells the story of an energetic television producer who is given the task of trying to revive a morning television show with two warring co-hosts (played by Ford and Diane Keaton).

And McAdams, who plays the producer, admitted she found it daunting starring alongside Ford, who is a childhood hero of hers.

Whoops! Harrison Ford accidentally trod on Rachel McAdams' flowing red gown at the premiere of their new film Morning Glory in Berlin, Germany, on Monday

Putting his foot in it: McAdams laughed off the accident, but Ford looked horrified when he realised what had happened

She said recently: 'I grew up watching Harrison. I loved, loved Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was my favourite, hands down, movie growing up. I wore out the tape. It was surreal working with him; I had to pinch myself.

'I never mentioned it to him though. I didn't want to gush all over him. I used it in the film, though. I channeled it into that scene where Becky gushes over Mike Pomeroy. So my childhood obsession turned out to be very helpful.'

Co-stars: McAdams plays a television producer in the film, who is given the task of reviving a breakfast television show hosted by Ford and Keaton's characters

But while McAdams hasn't been in the industry as long as Ford, the actor has more than a little admiration for his co-star.

He said: 'The fun of it is playing with Rachel, not against her, even though the characters are contrived to be in opposition.

'The pleasure is working with somebody who has such a facility of comedy but yet is so emotionally available. She brings a kind of depth to the comedy that’s rare, and in this case really necessary and appropriate. So I found it a real pleasure to work with her.'

Gossip Girl Leighton Meester keeps box office disappointment under her hat as Country Strong flops

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

All smiles: Leighton Meester pictured on the set of Gossip Girl in New York today

If Leighton Meester was feeling disappointed that her new movie failed to set the box office alight, then she certainly didn't show it.

The 24-year-old actress was spotted on location filming Gossip Girl today with a huge grin on her face - despite Country Strong flopping over the weekend.

The country music drama didn't even make it into the top five, settling instead for sixth place in its opening weekend and taking $7.3m.

Shopping spree: The actress was filming scenes for the popular U.S. TV show but her film Country Strong failed to set the box office alight this weekend

Considering the cast is headed up by Hollywood A-lister Gwyneth Paltrow, it is a disappointing performance.

The drama is centred on a rising country-music songwriter (Garrett Hedlund) who sparks with a fallen star (Paltrow).

Together, they mount his ascent and her comeback, which leads to romantic complications involving her husband/manager (Tim McGraw) and a beauty queen-turned-singer (Meester).

In comparison True Grit seized the reins with $15 million, taking the No. 1 spot and becoming the first Western to top the $100 million mark since the 1990s, according to studio estimates released on Sunday.

The Paramount release starring Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon bumped off Robert De Niro and Ben Stillers comedy Little Fockers, which was No. 1 for the previous two weekends.

Released by Universal, Little Fockers slipped to second with $13.8 million, raising its total to $124 million.

True Grit, which was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, lifted its total to $110.4 million.

Among newcomers, Nicolas Cages supernatural thriller Season of the Witch opened at No. 3 with $10.7 million. Distributed by Relativity Media, the movie stars Cage as a knight in the Middle Ages escorting a suspected witch to her trial.

True Grit is a new take on Charles Portis novel, previously adapted in a 1969 version that earned John Wayne an Academy Award.

Bridges stars as lawman Rooster Cogburn, hired by a 14-year-old girl to track down her fathers killer.

In Waynes day, Westerns were a fixture in Hollywood, but the genre fell out of favour over the last 40 years.

Carey Mulligan 'taking pill to regrow hair ruined by her film roles'

By SIOBHAN MCFADYEN

In 2007: Carey Mulligan's hair (left) is naturally long and mousy. In 2008: She loved her dark Sixties look in An Education (right)

Her hair has been cropped and styled, dyed and bleached – all in the name of art.
But the constant changes have taken such a toll on Hollywood star Carey Mulligan’s locks that she is said to have turned to a hair-loss supplement to try to restore her tresses to their former glory.

The Oscar-nominated British actress has apparently been reduced to tears by the state of her hair, taking the protein capsules in a desperate bid to make it grow back after a particularly dramatic cut.

Her naturally long and mousy hair has gone through a variety of styles in her time in Hollywood – but the most startling was when she bleached it peroxide blonde to play a prostitute in the 2009 Johnny Depp gangster movie Public Enemies.

Then last year, she had her locks cropped into a tight, elfin style for the Wall Street sequel Money Never Sleeps – but she has since struggled to get it to grow back.

The 25-year-old is said to have turned to a £25-a-month supplement from hair specialists Kerastase, which is sold in salons.

In 2009: The bleach Carey used in Public Enemies damaged her hair

‘She would do anything to have long, natural hair again, but she can’t grow it,’ said a friend.

‘She’s been recommended to take the pills for six months. While her hair is slowly but surely growing back, it’s taking a long time and she doesn’t feel she will have her confidence back until she’s happy with it.’

Carey is said to want to return to the look she had for her breakthrough role in An Education – the film that earned her the Academy Award nomination – where her hair was long, dyed dark brown and fashioned into a retro Sixties style.

In 2009: Carey's elfin redhead look (left) has given way to another blonde style (right) - but she wishes it would grow faster

‘Before she got the part in An Education, her hair was light brown and long and textured,’ said the source.

‘It went well past her shoulders.

‘When she auditioned for the role she knew it required her to dye her hair dark brown and she was initially intrigued to see what she would look like. When the colourist had finished with her new look, she was delighted and felt it really suited her.’

In the summer of 2008 Carey was cast in Public Enemies, set in the Thirties, for which she had to turn to the peroxide bottle.

‘The role was exciting for her,’ adds the friend.

‘Carey is not overly concerned with aesthetics but is incredibly professional, so she was stoic about having to sacrifice her looks for her art. She was eager to please, so she obliged.

‘But when she finished filming she burst into tears because of the damage the peroxide had done.’

Carey continued to dye her hair blonde for Wall Street 2, in which she starred alongside boyfriend at the time Shia LaBeouf, and also cut it short.

She tinted it red afterwards, but it is back to being short and blonde in her latest film, Never Let Me Go.

But now she wants her long locks back – and in as natural a way as possible.

Family films reigned at the box office in 2010 with half of the top ten grossing films aimed at young children and teens.

The animated movie Toy Story 3 was the most successful of them all earning almost £700million worldwide.

Even without a major Hollywood star appearing on screen the enduring story of Woody and Buzz Lightyear eclipsed all the other blockbuster films released in 2010.

Not even the most talked about stars, including Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise, came close to matching the pulling power to the characters created by Pixar studios.

Mad about it: Alice In Wonderland, starring Johnny Depp, came in second place

Only Leonardo DiCaprio in the thriller Inception came close to smashing the dominance of animated films in the last year managing fourth place on the top ten list of highest earning films.

Toy Story 3 took £680million at the worldwide box and was also the most successful film at UK cinemas.

Featuring the voices of Tom Hanks as cowboy Woody and Tim Allen as rocketman Buzz Lightyear, the film is now ranked as the 5th most successful of all time behind Titanic and Avatar.

Critics raved about the third in the series of Disney produced film and audiences flocked to see the conclusion of the series that first began in 1995.

Despite the huge success of Toy Story 3 Disney and animators Pixar have no plans to make a fourth in the series.

Another family film Alice in Wonderland starring Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter was the second highest grossing film.

The 3D feature took £650million at the box office to earn the runner up place.
The penultimate Harry Potter movie was third taking £536m, according to Forbes business magazine.

Family favourite: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One came in third after taking £536m

'Extremely happy' Reese Witherspoon announces her engagement to Hollywood agent Jim Toth

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

'Extremely happy': Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth, pictured here earlier this month, have announced they are engaged

Reese Witherspoon and Hollywood agent Jim Toth are engaged after almost a year of dating, her spokesperson confirmed today.

The couple quietly began their romance in January shortly after her split from Jake Gyllenhaal and went public with the relationship in March.

'They are extremely happy,' a representative for the Oscar-winner told America's Us Weekly.

It follows a string of celebrity engagements over the holiday season, with Natalie Portman, LeAnn Rimes, Lily Allen, Hugh Hefner, Shania Twain and Ginnifer Goodwin all announcing plans to wed.

Reese, 34, has two children - Ava, 10, and 6-year-old Deacon - with her ex husband Ryan Phillippe. The pair split in 2008 after seven years of marriage.
Sources tell the publication that Toth has 'bonded' with the actress's children.

Part of the family: Toth has 'bonded' with Reese's son Deacon and daughter Ava, according to sources

He has been a fixture in their lives for many months and often joins in on family outings, including their regular Sunday church visits.

Toth, 39, is an agent with the renowned Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and was named as one of the new heads of the company's motion picture talent department in September.

Whispers of an impending engagement began circulating earlier this month after he was spotted making the rounds at several high-profile jewellers in Los Angeles, including Harry Winston.

Reese joked about the rumours during her recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.
'My mom always texts me, like, "Are you getting married?"' she said. 'I'm like, "Mom, come on! You would know if I was getting married."'

Reese is currently starring in How Do You Know, a romantic comedy with Paul Rudd, Owen Wilson, and Jack Nicholson.

Hatta girl! Pregnant Penelope Cruz looks stylish in trilby as she fits in some last-minute Christmas clothes shopping

By JODY THOMPSON

Hat's the way to do it: Penelope Cruz leaves the Ed Hardy boutique on Melrose Avenue in Hollywood earlier this week

She's just a few weeks away from giving birth - but despite sporting a huge bump, Penelope Cruz still managed to look incredibly stylish as she shopped for clothes in Los Angeles yesterday.

Cutting a dash in a jaunty trilby, cream-coloured coat and black trousers, 36-year-old Penelope was given a VIP shopping experience at the Ed Hardy boutique on Melrose Avenue.

The store was closed for two hours to allow the star to make her purchases in peace - and perhaps staff wanted to give the blooming star extra room to manoeuvre.

The Hollywood beauty is almost eight months pregnant with her and 41-year-old husband Javier Bardem's first child.

But Penelope hasn't exactly put her feet up since becoming an expectant mother.

As recently as last month, the star was in London filming scenes for her new starring role in the next Pirates Of The Caribbean movie.

Blooming lovely: The eight-months-pregnant mother-to-be was given two hours of private shopping at the boutique

Despite her big bump, producers on the film carried on shooting close-ups of the Spanish beauty - but enlisted her sister Monica as a body double.

According to reports, whilst Penelope will be in all of the close-up shots, Monica will star in the long-distance scenes.

Yummy mum-to-be: The star is due to give birth in the New Year

On Stranger Tides sees the return of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and introduces fans to Penelope as swashbuckling Angelica.

It was during filming of the first scenes of the movie that Penelope married fellow Spaniard Javier at a low-key ceremony in the Caribbean in July.

Ahoy there: Penelope as Angelica with Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow and Ian McShane as Blackbeard in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

The pair started dating in 2007 after starring together in the Woody Allen movie Vicky Cristina Barcelona - and now they're looking forward to their next starring role as parents.

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides meanwhile opens in cinemas in May.
